New owner of a 99 Expedition.
Looking to replace a couple of the bulbs behind the Auto Temp Control panel.
I have searched and even tried the dealer. The manual control uses a standard 194 bulb where the ATC uses a different socket and bulb.
Does anyone have a tutorial on replacing these and maybe what bulb they used?
Have you taken the unit apart? In my 2000 Expy the bulbs are soldered to the circuit board. I Got some replacement bulbs on line. Didn't know what part number so I bought some that looked similar. They turned out to be slightly smaller and dimmer but they work and the brightness difference isn't to noticeable.
Just an update. I tried replacing the bulb with some I had at work but they ended up being less than 12V and burned out within a couple days.
I ended up purchasing a couple replacements on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/272213768498?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
These worked out great.
Here is a couple photos of the EATC and how you can access the bulbs.
Let me know if anyone has any questions.
The replacement I purchased on ebay were complete with the bulbs already in the sockets. No soldering. Just a 1/8 turn in/out with a flat blade screwdriver.
Thx for that...one more question: How easy did the module come out? Did you have to take the trim piece around the radio and climate control out, or does the clime control module slide out by itself?
Pull the trim panel around the radio and climate control. It just pulls out, no screws. Disconnect connector for 4x4 switch, if equipped. Then there are four screws that hold the climate control to the dash, remove them. Then just slide it out. The front panel has six clips holding it to the main unit. Disengage those and the board with the bulbs will be accessible.
