If you're talking about tails and markers, I think they are all fed thru the canbus. Although not actually "Canbus bulbs" , the stock incandescent bulbs have a certain current draw that the canbus expects so it can tell you when something is wrong (bulb out, etc). Replacing the stock bulbs with LED's will usually require a resistor in series to fool the canbus into thinking the incandescent bulb is still there drawing current that the LED doesn't draw. Its my understanding the "canbus bulbs" just have that resistance built in so you don't get bulb out indications, or fast blinkers. Maybe someone that has actually made the bulb swap will chime in.
There was a recent post regarding bulbs, that mentioned the BCM (Body Control Module), which controls flash rates etc. on changes to LED's.
This allows bulb changes without having to change flashers, or using resistors.
First off yes I searched, found a ton of results with mile long threads but none were for 2015 specifically so im asking.
What bulbs in the 2015 F250 are can bus bulbs if any?
I am looking to get into replacing with LED bulbs and want to ensure I get the correct bulbs.
Thanks!
Your 2015 F350 Super Duty is not equipped with this type of lighting system and you do not have any CAN Bus led lamps in the truck. As mentioned above, the lighting systems are controlled by the BCM and are not networked. Do not purchase these bulbs.
If you are going to install LED bulbs consult the bulb manufacturer or distributor for application information to obtain the correct bulbs for your truck. The 2015 Super Duty has lamp out features that may not be compatible with certain bulbs and may cause flashing lamps to misbehave which can be corrected by changing the BCM Lighting configuration in most instances with the Ford IDS diagnostic tool... but this affects the module and how it controls the lighting circuit and has no communication capability or direct control of the bulbs themselves.
Search through my recent posts and you will find a thread I started about this and another that I helped someone who had the same questions.
There's a link to instructions for the dealer to reprogram your BCM for the LED lights and it works great. Those threads should answer any questions you have.
I can post the links to those threads when I get back to my computer tomorrow if you haven't found them by then.
I read your thread about the reprograming of the BCM and I think I will be doing that as I also want to add the auto headlights which needs a flash, try to kill a couple birds at once.
