Hey all. So I have another post going where I explained that I have a 1979 f250 4x4 with a c6 and 351m. My C6 went out and I'd like to put a standard in it. I thought about the zf5 but sounds like it's quite a process to make it work. So now I'd like to find a 4 speed for my truck and have some questions. Im looking at buying a parts truck so I'll have everything I need. My C6 has a NP205 transfer case. Will this work with a t-18 or t-19 transmission or a BW435? Or do I have to use a diffent transfer case? Also that said if they are the same can I buy a 2 wheel drive pickup and bolt my transfer case on or are the transmissions different? I know I'm gonna try to find a parts truck from 77-82 that has my same 351m or 400. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
I know that if your transfer case is a 'married' one, the tailshaft on the transmission is different than the 2wd because the transfer case bolts right to the transmission. I don't know how that works for a divorced transfer case. you may be able to swap tailshafts if you can find a tailshaft somewhere.
Easiest would be to just find a parts truck with a 4x4, cause then the driveshaft might even be the right length!
You can reuse your 205 but you have to have a manual 4x4 trans that will have the correct t/c adapter bolted to the rear. Also, make sure you take good care of the donor d shafts.
Thank you very much guys! So I'm guessing if I found an 80-83 with my engine and the transfer case is an np205 I don't have to shell out the extra cash and buy that transfer case too. As far as drive lines go mines a supercab so I'm sure I'll end up at the drive line shop :/ thank you very much guys
