Battery terminals and wire upgrade

Whats everyone use for battery terminals? One of my positive broke at the crimp, so I had to replace one. Ended up grabbing two new positive terminals:

Figured I needed to upgrade the wire between the batteries to 0ga:

Had to use an in-line butt connector and crimp in place:

Still need to drill out the old ring terminals, as those don't currently fit on the new terminals.

Ed at FICM repair has a nice cable already made. I use the automotive shop near me for terminal repairs instead of the bolt on type. We do have a thread about fixing ground wire issues over OEM, I am sure someone will point you in the right direction before I make it back.

Whenever I replace a factory layout I always use those military style terminals, I think they are great. While you're in there there is another good change you can make, and that is to improve the drivers battery negative connection. As OE it goes right to the frame, but then goes through all the frame connections to join with the passenger negative at the bottom of the motor. You can do a better job of balancing the current flow from both batteries by either adding a short cable from the frame ground to one of the threaded holes on the drivers side of the block, or if your making up cables as you are just do a 1/0 from the battery to the block. It brings at least 50a up on the drivers side and 50a down from the passenger side, so the batteries are evenly used.

Here is how it ended up. Should be able to fit my coolant filter kit in no problem on the passenger side. Need to finish heat shrink and add some to the smaller cable as well. Still need to get a cover for the battery.

For the life of me I could not get the driver side battery cover to fit down all the way on the battery. I think the battery handle strap is stopping the cover from snapping on. Still managed to get the terminals on with the cover resting in place. Still need a positive terminal cover.

Yup, you'll have to remove the strap for the cover to fit back on.

I've been working on this mod as well. I built my own cables from the alternator to a fuse then onto the battery as well as a jumper to the drivers side battery. I haven't done the ground form the alternator to the fender yet, but I have seen a HUGE jump in V. I'm almost always above 13.9 now on a 3 year old OEM 110A alternator and one year old batteries. The terminals look like a dumpster fire and I'd like to clean up the connections...I've been looking at a lot of car audio terminals with a bunch of holds for different gauge wire. I've got car audio amps and an LED light bar that all require battery connections and I think the terminals that have a few different methods of connection is rather handy.
