Hesitation at take off.
I have experienced a hesitation on my truck since I purchased it 6 months ago. I get a one to two second hesitation at take off from a stop. I have checked the back pressure tube and the one that goes to the turbo controller no problems. I have a Edge CTS programmer that only shows ... for EBP anyone have any ideas.

Called spool time
They all do it
Since boost is made from exhaust pressure it takes a second to get the system going
if going to shoot into traffic Hold the brake pedal and Get on the throttle get the boost leval up before you move
Got to change driving habbits since its not a Gasser that will react and come from a stop fast

I am running an SCT tuner with three custom tunes from Gearhead Automotive, SRL, 8K Tow and Unlimited Tow. Now she takes off like a gasser with all three tunes. My FICM is stock. I think the engine timing or injector timing must be advanced or something, I dunno. What I do know is that I can't run stock tune anymore because I get very frustrated with the hesitation on acceleration from a stop.

The factory FICM programming was designed to minimize "black smoke" to be EPA friendly. As a result, if from a stop - you MASH the pedal to the floor, the PCM/FICM go in to "EPA mode" and limits fuel thus prolonging the time to "get up and go".
The FICM atlas 40 tune - (neutralizes the "EPA Mode") and allows more fuel to be injected which dramatically (at least for my 6L) reduced "turbo lag" at the expense of more "black smoke" for a second or two at take off.

Yes the Atlast 40 gave me a minimal amount of smoke at cold start and if I smash it from a dead stop.
And Yes, it really helped with the lag......as other posters state, it drives more like a gasser, and barely downshifts on grades where it used to. Gained a solid 2 mpg on our truck.
