Quite all right. I had at ine point thought about a stock trailer.
How ever it's good to know about others packing and how the
weights added up.

I am very thankful for all the help.

If you go to movers.com and check out their Moving Estimate Weight Cost Calculator (moving guides tab), you will see 15 categories of items that give approximate weights for many household items. Some of the listed weights are a little high in my opinion but it may put you in the ballpark in terms of estimate

I used this 20 x 8.5 trailer to move from NJ to Florida, made several trips - trailer was always full on the southbound trip. I always had the trailer weighed - the weights were always right around 10,000 pounds. It seemed that no matter what I loaded it with, if it was full the weight was always between 9840 and 10,117 pounds.

Hold the phone! Sean: you are moving?! ok I guess that is obvious...

Have you considered: Pods (or equivalent) for the move (lots of times they have secure storage near where you are going); and renting or even buying cargo container(s) and have it/them set at the new place? They are pretty weatherproof, very hard to break into and there is always a market for used ones.

With the cargo container route you could avoid the trailer purchase, just rent a trailer or a moving van to get your stuff there...

And what about the kitties amid all this confusion??! Bella is going to be pissed and probably you...

Our sick boy goes to UC Davis for an MRI Weds. and possible surgery (you can take all those S's and turn them into $'s...)

Good luck to you with the move and finding the "right" place for you...

I looked into Pods and the Container and you would think that
not being that far from the Port Of Tacoma the price for them
would not be too bad. WRONG and the price for Pods are crazy
for long term.

We will be down sizing so there are going to be some selling of
some things that will not have a place and some stuff that is just
no longer needed. Something that everyone needs to do every
now and again.

Also there are things I will not let a moving crew move and part of
that list is all the shop gear I have along with any gun stuff. At least
the gun stuff would fit in the back seat of the truck if I pack with care.
