1986 351 e5ae heads-options?

Trying to keep the cost down and I simply want bottom end torque for my f250 to haul.
Had the block bored 20 over and had the heads groomed without realizing they are the dreaded e5ae.
Should I just keep them for what I want the motor to do, or, should I get domed pistons? Should I have it milled(how much-and I need new pushrods then also right)?

Again, low cost pulling power only here...

And if you do advise something, estimated hp/torque difference?
Thanks

Those heads have 67-70cc combustion chambers which contributed to the 8.3:1 compression ratio this motor had all stock, simply bolting on E7TE heads would raise this to 8.8:1 and if you were to install pistons with flat tops and minimal valve eyebrows instead of the stock dished pistons for example that would jump up to 9 or 9.2:1.. all of which will produce more torque. Weigh the cost of higher compression pistons versus what a set of E7 heads will cost, given your goals you want this extra compression so you just got to decide how you're gonna achieve it.

I needed new pistons anyway, but trying to learn and avoid making any more mistakes. I have some '69 Do0E heads I can get local but they need freshening up, and would they be ok for my needs or should I just use the e5 heads. It's just a wood truck.

D0OE 351 heads are pretty close to late model GT40 heads with 60cc chambers and 1.84/1.54" valves but they need hardened valve seats and a rocker-stud conversion to be reliable with modern lead free gas and for any kind of performance application, the pressed in rocker studs are notorious for pulling out with aftermarket valve springs. If the heads have this work done already they might be a nice buy.
There is also a D0OE 302 head and it has 58cc chambers but has smaller 1.78/1.45" valves, these could push compression up into the premium only fuel territory which is great for torque but will add to your daily operating costs, they will need the same work as above but won't perform as well as the 351 head.

So many things to consider. Say I use the cleaned up E5 heads with my Holley 80457 4bbl and dual plane intake thats had a bunch of work done. Get the Extreme Energy cam from Crane and call it a day?? Just a hauler/plower in the end...

It'll run fine.. it just won't produce the kind of lowend grunt it could.

As this vehicle is "just a wood truck", I wouldn't start changing camshafts, intakes etc.
I also have an old firewood truck and find that it is hard to avoid lugging the engine when starting off with a heavy load, and even when driving on slight grades the engine tends to run warm and requires lots of throttle, thus increasing the tendency of spark knock.
So I recommend sticking with the low compression E5AE heads.
You mentioned they were "groomed", what does that mean?

Ground valves and new guides.

A valve grind and guide repair is good.

Have you already bought the oversize pistons?

Not yet. Was going to replace dish type with flat tops.
