I would have preferred you qualified your statement accordingly. The merits of the statement have an impact to me. Based on your qualification and I have not read anything to support it, it's just unsubstantiated opinion (in my opinion for me) and then I move on

I also recall reading a post from a user who claimed that the aluminum beds in the F150 were not holding up to oil field use. I don't recall anyone substantiating that claim or corroborating it.
I just went searching here for the last 30 mins and can't find it. The thread may have been moderated or?? Or it may have been on another forum altogether. The later I rather doubt as I spend very little time on forums other than this one.

I remember reading about that here regarding the oil field issue with the F150s...

I just think if the Aluminum was that big an issue we would hear a lot more about them... and we haven't.

Absolutely there was more to the story, and remember you just handed yourself up. I never said who I was referring to.

And I seem to recall that you are not the only one that went in for service on their super duty and walked out with a Ram... There are more here that have done that.

So the research person in me decided to do some light research work. Looking at NHTSA and carcomplaints.com.

Top complaints for the 2015 F150 are not body or bed related. And the body related complaints were not directly related to Aluminum being used as these issues could have happened with an all steel body too. Mainly misaligned panels or seals failing/falling off. Whistling mirrors... (They must have used the same design as the ones on our Volt)

Seems the most common complaint was a rough shifting transmission. And there are not that many of those either. So far the 2015 is on track to become the least complained about vehicle for the F150 line in a long time. Although 2014 has a low number of complaints too. 2004 and 2009 were bad years if we go back 10 years.

If it wasn't for the fact that I want the ability to use a camper or pull a heavy trailer, I'd have an F150. Easier to park, smoother ride, don't have to plug in as often. Has 4WD that can be used on dry pavement... And finally, the cost difference between it and a super duty isn't enough to not get the super duty.

Not yet - I ran by the dealership today, hoping for the chance to take some truly gory pictures - and she's still intact and hasn't moved from where the wrecker dropped her off. But, they did tell me the new engine arrived this morning in a huge crate and they would be starting on her this afternoon. I'm tempted to drive by again on my way home, but I'll be truly pissed if she hasn't moved. And I don't want to be in a bad mood this evening. I'd rather dream of new truck smell........ but that doesn't mean I've made a decision yet!
