I have a 94 4x4 with the snowplow package. It has two shocks on each side. The shock tower rusted and broke the other day. the truck is very rusty and I don't use it to plow, I barely drive it at all unless i need to move something big, get lumber for a project or something like that. I cant seem to find the shock mounts for two shocks, will a single shock mount work to replace it. I realize the dampening will be different, the shock have probably not had oil in them for the past few years anyway. Thanks. Also, I will be in the market for a 96 ford F150 with the 300 coming this summer and fall. I want one from the south or west, with little to no rust.
Yes a single shock tower is a direct swap, dual shocks were part of a HD towing package or some such and IMO aren't needed or even desirable in a DD as they do make the ride harsher. My '90 reg cab had them and I saw a noticable improvement in ride when I simply deleted one pair of shocks.
