Is there any shock company that sells shocks by length? My 55 has been lowered by using lowering shackles, removing some leafs and relocating the front spring hanger. To add to the confusion I am using a 12 bolt C#@&* rearend with Bronco II shock mounts. I need a shock with hoops on both ends and run about 11.5" Mount to Mount.
Thank You
Thanks Jeff. That does look like it will work. I was also wondering after looking at another post about gas tanks if I could fab up another crossmember and move the shock forward on the frame. That would allow a longer shock. Is there a certain degree of angle you don't want to exceed?
As far as your shocks any good parts store should be able to get you shocks based on the dimensions you gave. I know Monroe has books listing shock dimensions and the parts numbers for those shocks. You will need open and closed measurements and the diameter of the shock bolt mount.

I can tell you now that the shocks that dimension are for the front of a 80s Chebbie van. Been there already, tried the Monroe Selectrac, way too stiff for the rear of my truck. Went to the Monroe OEM replacement, much better but still a little stiff. I have yet to buy the QA1s, but they are in the plans.

Don't go over about 30 degrees or you lose a lot of the shock's effectiveness. I put a Chevy 10 bolt under my 49 and I'm using stock 55 Ford truck rear shocks...
Donnie your truck looks great what mirror are you using? are they functional? try bilstein shocks Posies has them along with a few other vendors, they are about $100 each however, in my opinion they are worth it. mine are great! Also try RCD &CPP

Reason: spelling
I worked with QA1 and Bilstein engineers trying to get the best shock for my truck. I ended up going with a set of Bilstein shocks (55-RO67; $90 each) which I bought through Posies. If you call Posies, try to speak with Todd or Chris (717.566.3340).
I first went with a set from the local autoparts store and the truck rode terrible. The new shocks from Posies made the truck ride soooo much better.
Lance, do you happen to know the dimensions on those Bilsteins? Extended and closed?
Never mind, I found it 9.8 collapsed, 14.6 extended. Sounds like they would work.
Hey, Thanks guys
Jaye, those mirrors are from Southern Rods & Parts. They were at a Good guys show in Nashville a few years ago. As for functional,,,Not the passenger side. I'm not real happy with them.
Also Congrats again Lance and Roger on your Street Truck spread. If you wern't so deserving of all you get I might be ticked a little.LOL
