Acceleration problem s

Having issues with my 1990 F250 7.3 idi e4od. When driving if I keep the rpms between 1000- 1500 the vehicle starts lurching forward. As soon as I raise the rpms above 1500 or drop to idle and cruise it goes away.

is this in any gear, or only in overdrive?
there really is not much that would cause it besides a trans issue i would think. but i know nothing about the E4OD trans.

i wonder if it is the trans "hunting" between third and OD?
this is usually a sign of the trans needing service.
