Hey guys have a 1984 f250 4x4 4spd. Will not start. Cranks over fine. Has few fuel leaks on the old hoses and return line. Esp. Around the 4 corner injectors but can't seem to get fuel out of the rest of them. Kinda putters with a little gas down the breather. Any ideas. I hooked new yellow wire up and heard it click also for the red.
I do not see any wiring harness for the glow plugs. I see the plastic tubing but no wires coming out of it. Typically, your engine needs these to start when cold. In the second photo I see one connector that might be for a GP.
Yea it has been removed by previous owner. I was going to put new wires on soon. Just trying to get it to fire. Since it's 60-65 degrees out i think it's warm enough??
Are your lines loose? Sometimes you have to loosen the nut enough to wiggle the injector line. There is a fuel filter located on the tower just above the passenger side of the engine (seen in your photo) You could replace it and fill with fuel or automatic trans fluid when you replace it. Ultimately, you may need to take the fuel pressure of the fuel at the Schrader valve. The automatic trans fluid works wonders on the IP, but I think you still need the glow plugs. There is also a screen in the nose of the IP. Some people mess with it but it is quite difficult and should not be necessary if the primary filter is doing its job.
Without glow plugs, the engine /will not start/. Not without some other method of adding heat/assisting, like Ether(starting fluid).
You can use a small shot of ether safely IF AND ONLY IF the glow plugs are disconnected/off and cold.
