Instrument Cluster Light Bulb Diagram – 1999 F 350 Diesel

Does anyone have a light bulb diagram for the instrument cluster of a 1999 F-350 Diesel? I have at least one bulb burned out and I was thinking of replacing them all with LEDs bulbs while I have it out.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

You don't really need a diagram you need to know how to remove the cluster. I have been putting it off for over a year... Lazy I know... Or, I could just drive around in the day time!

Here is a video that may help

LEDs don't always throw the same as the bulbs they designed the dash around. You can end up with hot and cold spots and it looks crappy.

I had several bulbs burnt out when I got my truck and just replaced everything with long life incandescents. It'll be 5+ years before I have to do it again. The electrical draw is so insignificant that there's no point in going with LEDs.

The only hiccup in the whole process was needing pliers to unscrew the holders. Those suckers are hard to unlock.

Thanks for the response. What I am seeking is a diagram of what type of bulb goes where and how many of each type are needed. This way I can order all of the bulbs needed and replace them all at once. I don't want to have to pull out the instrument cluster more than once to do the job.

e.g. I'm seeking a diagram the guy in your video used to know what is the correct bulb to use for replacement.

Thanks again,
Mike

Get yourself a dozen 194LL bulbs and you will be set. If your hard pressed for leds, knock yourself out. Just make sure they are not any bigger than a 194 real-estate wise.

Here is the back of my '02 dash. Slightly different, but you will get it.

The large black ones (5) are for the instrument lights. The smaller gray ones are for the idiot bulbs.

Just an update -- I did go with LEDs. I absolutely hate them.

1) Polarity maters when installing, so it is a lot of trial an error to get them to light up correctly
2) When they do light up, they are harder to see during the day. Especially warning lights.

I've had a lot of success with LED in other areas, but not in the instrument cluster on a 99.5.

Thanks again to all that replied, it was helpful.

Interesting, I went with LEDs in mine and they light the dash up better then stock bulbs, and while its not brighter then day light I can see them come on during the day, guess it does matter the bulbs are specifically designed for a wide beam pattern...
