I pretty much cooked my trans towing once; a hot Oregon to Idaho day and slow turns while trusting the dash gauge will do that. Checked the fluid and it glittered like a bass boat. Changed fluid, added a gauge, Magnefine filter and a valve body, been fine ever since. That was approx 30k ago.
If the Money Tree on the back 40 is plentiful get a BTS or John Woods, but if it were me I'd change the fluid, new trans filter, add a Magnefine, and roll with it.
I know people are trying to keep pace with Rich's alliterations....but the original question isn't clear as to where. The fumoto gives a clue....come on, it shouldn't be like an Easter egg hunt to help.
Gold dust/flakes in the catch pan, from the motor oil. In the past, I've had ferrous pieces but never that I can remember, gold dust/flakes.
Besides the lack of power I've had for 5yrs now(did the 10k mod and blew up my turbo), there's no blow by, #'s seem to be in line at idle with everyone else's (torque pro), egt's (driver/pass sides) are within limits even when towing),...etc
(thought the "sluice" word would've been the hint, lol)
What is your avatar image to the left of your name? Is it of a cat sitting in the back seat of an old VW 60's era Beetle, looking out of a rain pelted window, scratching the top of his head like an ape? Wondering what the heck "sluice" means? That would be me.

wiki:
A sluice (from the Dutch "sluis") is a water channel controlled at its head by a gate. A mill race, leet, flume, penstock or lade is a sluice channelling water toward a water mill. The terms sluice, sluice gate, knife gate, and slide gate are used interchangeably in the water and wastewater control industry.
Your intent is now clear, but your title still isn't fixed. If actually panning for gold, the transmission pan would be the tool better of choice than the too deep and too narrow engine oil pan. And all this time I thought your phone respelled the word "slush box" for you, which is a common synonym for transmission. So I clicked this topic title thinking, like several other posters, that thread would have to do with the 4R100.
I think I would take the old oil and run it through a paper coffee filter to separate all the particles for closer analysis. Maybe cut the old filter open and see what the filter has caught. Then test material with a common magnet to see if it is magnetic. If it is non-magnetic (copper?), then perhaps a bearing problem somewhere. I would not drive the truck until determining the cause of the metal particles in your oil.
