wrvond,

Are you updating to 4.4 or 4.6?

Hi Cara,
I updated to 4.4 January of 2016.
I have checked online, and it says I am up to date with 4.4, yet I'm hearing that there is a 4.6 available.
Is there another source for updates, or does it take time to become available to everyone through the website?

wrvond,

Each update is vehicle specific, so I recommend keeping an eye on your account for the availability.

When I download to my mac I don not get a .zip file nor do I get the 2 install files with the rest in a folder they are all separate. When trying to install the directions are not even close but when I do get there it says install file not found or something to that effect.

Hi Jeff,

Can you try opening the download with Stuffit Expander? That should give you the proper list and format of the files.

Joy,

That doesn't work. As soon as I click on the folder in my downloads folder it shows all the individual files.

Macs/Apples automatically unZip and extract .zip files to the respective down;had folder and trash the original. It is a normal process.

However, it does nothing to fix the issues with updating your vehicle. I am having trouble too.

Hi rmeaux,

Are you having trouble installing the update with the correct files or are you also experiencing a problem with getting the proper items on to the USB?

I took at look at the install and autoinstall files...

The install.lst file makes reference to what appear to be codes that relate to the .cab files in the SynchMyRide directory.

I also notice that 'my' code (from synchmyride.com) is AR3T-14D544-AE, and this code is not present in the install.lst file or the sub-directory.

The file autoinstall.lst contains similar references except the .cab file line makes no reference to the SyncMyRide directory; thusly looking in the 'root' directory where there is NOTHING.

All this has me wondering if this update is 'tweaked' every time some reports failure, and this tweak involves adding the missing .cab file for the particular individuals 'code'.

This may be why our VIN is requested, so they can look up the original code and add what is missing.

I may be wildly off base here; not knowing the details of how Ford codes these updates makes this a SWAG.

Anyone care to weigh in on how long it takes to get resolution once a case has been created? I would like to update synch in my truck.

I can get the files on the USB fine. I have done that using every scenario possible.

I have done a full format of any drive I've used.

I tried:

- having the files in the SyncMyRide folder and the install file separate just like the images in the instructions show.

- I've tried having all files in the root of the drive.

- I've tried having a copy of each file with and without the folder name in the the filename.
- /SyncMyRide/filename.nnn
- filename.nnn

- I've tried the above scenario with the files in and out of a SyncMyRide folder. At one time, both places at the same time.

- I've also tried with and without the autorun file in and out of the folder.

- I've tried other favors of mix and match of the above scenarios.

No matter what, still get a files not found on touchscreen.

Also performed a Master Reset on head unit.

I've dug in these files too using TextWrangler and tried to stare and compare at what was suppose to happen when executed.

I too noticed the filenames as having the folder directory in them and then not.

Like I said in my last post. I made a copy of each file and removed said folder path. Left both copies on the drive, in a folder and in root at the same time. The install file still can't locate them.

I also tried removing all unnecessary text and comments from the top of the install and autorun file. No changes. Good or bad.

Trying to update a 2012 Expi EL Limited before a trip and it's frustrating.

Wanted to update before my last trip because my current version shows no media info while using Bluetooth. But there was nothing to download at that time. Not even an older or current version.

Thanks for doing this and updating the thread; I was planning the same approach, but now feel it will be a waste of time.

I sure hope we get some resolution soon; I doubt we will ever know what is changed if/when it works.

Hi Everyone,

If you open the original download and see anything other than a SYNCmyride folder (with several zipped files inside), autoinstall.lst, and install.lst listed then, the files are not going to copy properly in order for the update to install. If you are using a Mac, right click on the downloaded file, and choose to open with Stuffit Expander. SYNCmyride should not show as an attachment to any cab files, and autoinstall, and install should be listed outside of the SYNCmyride folder. If you are using a Windows PC, you must choose to extract those 3 items directly from the download and choose the flashdrive as the destination point. For anyone who has attempted this, please delete the files from the computer and redownload the update to try again. The files’ names may differ because they are VIN specific, but the 3 that I mentioned, will all be listed the same and that it is all that you need on the USB. You should not have to make any alterations to the files, folder, or names of the files. If you have a case open, I suggest that you try this as well.

Using Stuffit does output the files without the folder directory attached to them.

IMHO - if this method is required to do it properly I believe the instructions should be updated which currently show via images and text instructions having OS X handle the .zip extraction. With no mention of third party software.

I can recall at least the last four years of OS X releases, that it has auto handled .zip files and extracted them and placed the .zip file in the trash. Which is still recoverable and usable.

This would have save me about 3 hours of investigation Saturday if this works.

I am not near the vehicle at the moment, but I have made the USB drive using this method and will post an update around 6:00 pm CST 05/16.2016.

I still do Thank you for your help Joy (I also see a Cara on here) as I know you are only one person and there are many that make these updates come to fruition.
