Please send your VIN in a PM. I'll get more information for you.
I need one more post for PM privileges. I've been a member of this forum since I bought my 2003 F-150 back in 2008 but mostly a lurker. Hopefully the moderators don't deem this as against the rules. If so I'll go find another thread to add some useful information to.. Hopefully have the VIN to you shortly!
I initially tried a windows computer since sync was designed by Microsoft. During my first two attempts I used google chrome as a browser then IE. When that didn't work I tried an apple computer using Firefox as the browser then tried safari. None of these worked.
Is the USB formatted to FAT32, and are the files and folder on the root directory of the USB drive?

No worries. I'll see if I can send you a PM first.

If you're still experiencing those issues after a master reset, you will need to go to the dealer.

Yes the USB is formatted to FAT32 and all the files are in the root directory of the USB drive. I followed all the posted instructions from syncmyride to the letter.
I am not sure if it matters or not but the sync system I am working with has not been updated since it was installed at the factory. Like previously stated I was told by tech support that there are issues with this update; my experience thus far with sync is that is true. I hope things get worked out soon.
If you've never updated since the beginning, it's quite possible that the version is too far behind for you to perform the update on your own. Can you check the CCPU version in the vehicle using the following instructions:
1. Press the GEARS icon at the bottom of the screen.
2. Select HELP on the left.
3. Select SYSTEM INFORMATION in the middle.
4. You should see the CCPU listed there.

Ok I could not find what you were asking by using your instructions but I did pull the system information which is what you were asking I assume. There were no gears anywhere in my system. Anyway here is what I was able to see in my system information page

I do appreciate you trying to help me out here.
Previously, you mentioned that you have the 8" touchscreen which is known as the MyFord Touch. According to your FPN, sounds like you may have SYNC with Voice-Activated Navigation instead. Please send your VIN in a private message. I'd like to provide the proper instructions for your vehicle.
My 2011 with basic sync won't update either I have tried multiple formatting and downloads. Just says the installation file isn't there. It clearly is.

Does the "you have too old of a version to upgrade on your own" apply to those of us with the 'basic Sync' version ?
Since the web site knows which version we have, shouldn't it, tell me
this and prevent the download attempt ? Or better yet, customize the download based on the version I have ?

Hi Tech740m,
Please send your VIN in a private message, and we'll go from there.

This is not the case. Also, we've discovered that elite64a is also trying to update to version 4.4. The issue with this update is still ongoing. Our engineers are working to get it corrected, but there is not an ETA at this time. I sent you a message; check it out.
having the same exact issues.
I did a Vehicle health report, downloaded the files to a USB drive, there are no other files or folders on it, it wont update.
I thought about just going to the dealer to have them do it, but seems they might have the same issues.
I don't recommend going to the dealer, because this is a known and ongoing issue. If you want to be contacted once the issue is resolved, send your VIN in a private message.

Can you send me the instructions also for the SYNC with Voice-Activated Navigation? I'm having the same issue with the same system as elite64a. The Ford website is no help.
