My 66 F-100 vin tag lists "J" for Rangoon Red. It has since been painted red/white two tone (white on top). If this were the original paint color scheme could it still be "J" on the vin tag, or would it be "J/M" or "J/C" for example?

You're welcome. My '66 f100 is also J but it is Poppy Red. The books say it should be code S, but that's Ford for you.
