[QUOTE=Absolute;16163799]Got the new axle all done. Managed to get the shocks at Lordco. Cost more, but get the rebate and no shipping and waiting. That said , everything rides fantastic, tight and smooth. And I still need to get an alignment. Might wait until I put the new rims and tires on since it rides perfect. Shocks seem great, even though I have them on a low setting. That said. I have a question on shocks. The stocks are different because of the metal shroud and no rubber boot, so comparing was difficult. When I stand next to the truck looking at the 9000's, The rubber boot is compressed and only about 4" of rod is extended. I compressed the old stock shock and it appeared close, but the shroud limited seeing how much rod is exposed compressed. Is 4" normal on a stock suspension? I read the spec and it has 7.75" of travel, so 4" would appear to me to be in the middle, and normal, but it looks odd with the boot all the way compressed like that. Any reassuring thoughts??[/
Is there a way to install a sprite around the shaft, then go drive ur, take off the road..etc, then evaluate where the ziptie ends. If not bottomed out, I'd say ur good to go....as for your 1st thread question, was tho what you were after... http://www.riffraffdiesel.com/front-abs-grease-able-block-off-fitting/
They just look compressed all the way because of the red boots being compressed. But there is actually about 4" travel exposed. It rides great, so figure there the right ones. Thought they might be too long and the girl gave me the wrong ones.
This is how mine look without the rubber boot. I still have to do the rears but ran into a big problem and will start another thread when I can tackle it.
Is that Pic with the suspension compressed? Looks like its hanging. If so mine are fine. Mine has 4" compressed all the way, full truck weight. I also notice you have a lot of spings in there. Mine has only 2 leafs. That said, you shock top looks like it ends level with the frame, then the rod. Mine is an inch higher than the frame then the rod. You must have a lift on there. Any stock guys have a pic to compare??
OMG! Just did some number searching on the Rock Auto site for those shocks, and Lordco sold me the ones for a 2.5 to 4 inch lift. So off they come and back to Lordco for the right pair. Explains everything. Thanks anyway guys.
