The throttle seems jumpy
The throttle seems jumpy
I need some help here,
I have a 1997 F250 With the 7.3 Standard Transmission Runs great. The problem I'm having is when Im starting off or when I'm in a parking lot and want to give it a little fuel it seems to take off and If I let off and try to feather the throttle it seems to buck. Its very hard to give it a little fuel.
So, I have read posts and was thinking it was the TPS. So I changed out the fuel peddle and it seems to be about the same, maybe a little better but for the most part the same.
Is there anything else I need to be looking at?
Thanks for your help and hope I explained the problem.
Jim

Mike I have seen that, I have started playing with the old peddle so I need to test it. Not sure how but thats where I'm at. I was just hopping someone would just say change this or that.
Thanks

With the truck off crawl under the dash and push the go pedal by hand, you should here a click, that's the idle switch opening. You want to just barely move the pedal before it clicks, if your moving the pedal more then a tiny bit before it clicks you will get a jump throttle.
There is a small tab on the side of the pedal that contacts the switch, bend it away from the switch.
Recheck for the click when your done, it HAS to click when you step on the pedal, if it doesn't you bent the tab to far.
On edit, if I had looked at the above link I would have seen that what I just typed was already posted above....
