Pedal Fix?

Pedal Fix?
Must I do the pedal fix that is posted in the mods thread if my throttle doesnt respond until pushing in about a half inch then hearing a click?? Or is that normal for these trucks? My grandfathers 99 7.3 is like a carb motor and responds right away. Thanks in advance.

That is the purpose for the fix. There is a safety switch that has to be broken before the PCM will follow the input from the throttle pedal. That "click" you hear is that safety switch. The goal is to have the switch "click" as soon as the pedal moves so the throttle application isn't delayed or interrupted by the safety switch.

No, it just makes the throttle "jumpy" if it doesn't open the safety switch before the throttle starts to register a position. An example would be if the pedal goes to 15% before the switch clicks, then you don't get the 0-15% range on the throttle and it just makes it a little more jumpy.
