2011 eb just turned 36k. Today on breezeway it shuddered like it swallowed a bird, and check engine light flashed on. Went to see customer left and light was off. Back on breezeway and shuddered on entrance ramp so this time I stayed into it so either there's a light that will stay on or just launch it and this time the dealer will have something to fix that they can diagnose. Check engine light is on its fine as long as I stay out of the pedal. Still have 8 months left on power train warranty but what am I looking at for a diagnose, there is definitely a problem now. Any suggestions on what the dealership should see?
As a side note I have felt a minor shutter before but not like today and it did not go into limp mode. And today's temp was just above freezing so I doubt it has anything to do with condensation. Thanks everyone
Probably needs spark plugs. The gaps on the 2011's ranged anywhere from .035 -.040 On the newer trucks they tightened the gaps down to .030
A new set of Motorcraft SP534 will come pre gapped @ .030
Here we go all. There was a miss fire code. They also heard the grinding noise another dealer said they couldn't reproduce. The miss fire remedy was new plugs and boots, but I won't get truck back till late next week. All 4 vct units and timing chain is being replaced, my warranty expires in October. I was kinda surprised I needed plugs at 36k
Mine was acting similar at 65,000 or so miles and plugs fixed it.
I was under the impression they should last longer than that as well. I did have one person tell me the plugs don't last as long in Turbo applications. ???
