While passing another truck today at roughly 85MPH, my check engine light came on and then went off a couple of minutes later. It was during a WOT acceleration at highway speed. It repeated again at another WOT acceleration and I noticed the truck smoking quite a bit. All guages were normal and the truck seemed to run ok. The only modification to the truck is the Ford AIS air box and 60HP Predator performance / economy tune. When I got home I checked to see if the computer had stored a code and it showed no faults. Any ideas other than the standard idiot light problems? Thanks!
By the way, we were at Beaver Bend State Park in OK. By far, the truck of choice was the PSD. Probably 80% of the trucks pulling large trailers were PSD's. Dodge second and the Duramax last. Hmmm...
mine came on at 4300 miles when it was still stock and no codes were present. came on last winter climbing a hill in mo loaded with
the 80 hp chip and has not been on since. my new programmer has shown error codes but the light has never been back on. i have heard of trucks with mods that can get the light to come on at high boost levels and wot
Ok, thanks. I had a feeling it might be boost but wasn't sure. My pyro and boost guage set arrived yesterday. Installation takes place today! Thanks for the help.
I get the same thing when I romp down on my truck. I saw in your sig you have a Diablo 60 HP program, but I'm not sure if you mean chip or programmer. I have a Diablo Predator, and when the SES light came on the first time, I plugged the Predator up and ran the code scanner. There were two codes tripped, but I can't remember the P**** numbers. I do know that one of them was Injector Control Pressure Higher/Lower than Expected and the other was Waste Gate Valve Malfunction (or something to that effect). I imagine this has something to do with the amount of boost shooting in and the injectors aren't pumping enough fuel to match the boost as well as having an overboost condition. Anybody else have any ideas on that?
I'm running the 60 HP Predator program. Not a chip. When I checked for codes with the Predator it came up clear. It keeps activating the check engine light at WOT. Light goes off in a couple of minutes. Thanks for the help.
The SES light seems to activate at different boost levels. I have seen some turn on with as little at 18lbs while mine will climb to 26# without turning on the SES light. When you do reach this condition where the SES light is activated the computer will defuel and act as though it is only seeing 9lbs...after a few minutes the computer will reset itself turn off the SES light and let you continue on your way. It is trying to keep us from overboosting the turbo, and will do so by taking away our diesel
Well that's not nice! I guess that's why it seemed doggy after the SES light came on. I would think it would set a code, but it still has nothing in the computer. Either that or the Predator is not retrieving it.
Thanks for the info.
Keep the Predator hooked up and cause the codes to pop and it will tell you what they are. I tried to go out today and get the codes to come up, but they wouldn't trip. If I can get it happen again I will post the specific codes since yours seem to go away before you can read them.
I am running the superchips programer. 1705. i have boost and turbo temp gauges, when my boost gets up to around 26 or so my check engine light comes on and stays on. it will only go off when i turn the switch.
