I have an 86 with a 300 but the block is locked up so I'm looking to drop a 302 in but I don't know what type of manual transmission will work? Will the inline 6's 4speed 1st granny toploader bolt onto the 302?
The 300 six and the small blocks share the transmission bolt pattern. So your transmission will bolt up although you will need the flywheel. Plus you'll need the engine stands that bolt and rivet to the frame, a different radiator, a small-block engine wiring harness, and exhaust.

For the engine stands are you talking about motor mounts? Not to worried about exhaust yet I live in flagstaff Arizona... There's no emissions!!!

No not the rubber motor mounts there are metal brackets that the motor mounts rest on the are bolted to the frame they are different between the 300-6 and 302-v8

I would think besides the flywheel to match the 302 v8 you would need the clutch disc & pressure plate also.

The clutch from the six may work on an eight. The difference will be in the size/diameter. Some sixes came with a small clutch, but the 302 doesn't have much torque so a small one should work with it.
