Inline 6 F150 gearboxes
Hi,
New member here from the UK.
A friend of mine has just bought a 300 cu in engine from a 1980 F150 truck.
It's actually going into a '56 Sunliner and he is now looking for a transmission.
Am I right in thinking that the bell housing bolt pattern / flywheel / pinion bush etc are the same as for a small block V8 6 bolt.
If so, does this mean that he has the option of C4 and C6 autos and the old toploader manual?
I know there are more modern options like Tremec / T5 and even Toyota I think, however it's a budget vehicle . . .
Is it that simple or are the transmissions not so interchangeable - does it have to be a transmission for an inline 6?

The Bell housing is the same as the 302 V8, and trannies that can bolt up to the 302 will bolt up to the 300.
The C4, C6, AOD Auto and the T-18, T-19, Clark (Tremec), and the NP-435 are all options.
The flywheels are different and balanced and unique to the 300-6
