A friend of mine has just bought a 300 cu in engine from a 1980 F150 truck.
It's actually going into a '56 Sunliner and he is now looking for a transmission.
Am I right in thinking that the bell housing bolt pattern / flywheel / pinion bush etc are the same as for a small block V8 6 bolt.
If so, does this mean that he has the option of C4 and C6 autos and the old toploader manual?
I know there are more modern options like Tremec / T5 and even Toyota I think, however it's a budget vehicle . . .
Is it that simple or are the transmissions not so interchangeable - does it have to be a transmission for an inline 6?
