Trying to decide what to do with this. It's in good shape except for the scratches. I'm thinking maybe black bed liner for now and then I can paint it a different color when I decide on the color of the rest of the truck. I want something that can handle a little abuse. Would like to here any thoughts or suggestions you might have.
I wouldn't bedliner it if you are planning on painting it again. That stuff is a pain to get off. I would clean it up and rattle can it gray. Looks good, doesn't stick out, and easy to touch up.
It's still straight? Them are tough bumpers... mine was wrecked and twisted so I scrapped and repurposed it as parts of yard art.
I'd modify it by cutting holes for back up lights and work lights. Rattle can paint on the vertical faces.... bedliner or "non-skid" in the diamond tread.
If you wanna get real trick, cut holes and have it dimple-died.... makes it lighter too.
I knew you guys would come through. I was thinking I would just bedliner the whole thing and rattle can over it when I decided on a color. But I like the idea of just doing the diamond plate. Not a fan of the trucks covered in bedliner. And I am going to start on installing some work lights in it tomorrow. Thanks for the input.
My rear bumper is already black so here's a few if you're trying to picture it
I did mine that way too. Rhino lined the bed and did the top of bumper with it and rattle canned the rest and it was a huge improvement over the 10 colors on top of rusted old metal that it was..haha

Yeah, not sure if mine came black or the PO painted it, either way by the looks of the bumper it's handle some abuse pretty well. It's on my list of things to fix up but it's pretty far down right now
I like it. Thanks for the idea! I kind of wish I would of moved them a little more to the center. Maybe I'll put some tow hooks or d-rings in between the light and license plate.

Man, that came out great. I wish I had a plasma cutter. Some d rings would look great between the lights and middle license plate holder and functional.

While the bumper is made of 3/16ths plate, it would not hold up to D-rings as tried and true recovery points.. tug on em and the bumper will bulge outwards and deform.
A tow strap with an eye loop can neatly go over the tow ball since the pulling force would be on the same plain as the step of the bumper... and the ball mount plate is 1/4-inch thick.
Good work on the back-up/work lights! For me, I installed some low-buck rear LED daytime running lights from HF... Switched so I can go into stealth mode at night too....
The front DRLs are integral to the headlights.......
There is enough structure on the back side of the bumper that I could tie it all together and make it pretty stout. I'm in the process of mounting a reciever hitch anyway, so they would be mostly for "show". I know, I hate that term also. I think I just talked myself out of it.
I went el cheapo on my lights also. Hopefully they last longer then it took to put them in. I dig those headlights also.

Those front headlights are really nice. Are those Amber parts in the headlight tied into your turn signals or are they parking light?

The amber section can be wired either as turn signals or markers since they only have a single-filament bulb. It made sense for them to be DRLs in this case. ..The stock lights are well, stock.
