My rusty rear step bumper needs a new paint finish and I'm not sure which would be the most durable:
1) Rustoleum semi-gloss black
2) Brake caliper paint, gloss black with a top layer of semi-gloss Rustoleum
3) Rustoleum Hammer Finnish gloss black
4) Other (but not bed liner)
i would say (i know you said no) bed liner on ONLY the top of the bumper, the part that would actually get stepped on the most... Thats what im gonna do on my dent
What is the hang up with Rustoleum? That stuff is crap. If you want a finish to last, my first choice would be have it powdercoated. Second would be Imron. Third would be Base coat clear coat/ The base coat clear coat can be done with spray cans now these days.

Powder coat would be the best choice. Also, how about Hammerite? Not sure if it can be sprayed on using a spray gun. I used it on a rear bumper years ago and it held up pretty good being durable and easy to use.
