6.0, multiple problems...Ford could care less.

Should have done this before it got dark but here is a picture to illustrate the problem.. The red stuff is Lucas red and sticky grease and the cap is sealed with electrical tape. Don't want any water in my new tank. Here I parked uphill and poured in some water. As you can hopefully see the base of the vent is entirely under water and 3/4 of the nose. Add dirt and debris and the situation can get worse. My vent swivels back and forth a bit...it is not tight against the tank. M1911

Apparently my new tank isn't so new. Looks like the engine will need all new injectors. Above is the condition of the new tank under the vent housing. Rust. This is where water, sand, mud and debris is being sucked into the engine. The Ford TSB will not correct leakage here. All of you owners having multiple problems with your cab and chassis 6.0 diesel or other trucks with the diesel fuel tank behind the axle should be taking a close look at this. I'm now convinced that all of the problems we have had and the $10K plus it has cost me all originated right here. My dealership knew nothing about this, did not know about the TSB. It will do no good to put a new tank in, new sending unit, new filters, new fuel pump, new pressure regulators, new injectors................until you fix this. M1911
You have been through a ton and it can be frustrating especially when you have a business that relies on that vehicle. Thank you very much for coming to the forum to shed light on the whole tank issue. I just want you to read what I'm typing and please take it to heart.
1. Get the Titan Tank and stop worrying about the fuel tank issue, end of story. You have spent more time, money, and effort when you buy the titan tank and you will likely never have the issue ever again. A short fix until the Titan Tank gets there is to rip that Vent off the tube and install a piece of hose with a worm drive clamp and run the piece of hose downwards so that nothing can get into the vent valve. Just my opinion.
2. I do think that something else had been getting into your tanks, and Dieselsite makes a great fuel bowl filter add on that does exactly what your talking about and provides additional filtration.
3. I really wish you didn't buy that Dorman FICM, as you will be most likely be having issues with it very soon after. PLEASE talk to Ed at FICMRepair.....People have had no issue with them for YEARS, and they run leaps and bounds around even the OEM ones. You do NOT have to get it tuned or anything, he will return you just a stock one that is overbuilt and won't fall providing you have a good electrical system.
4. Please try Archoil, people have been reporting good things and helping clear up injectors. While it is not the full fix, it will definitely help your engine and your well being.
5. Only use OEM filters on the truck, no matter what you have heard, seen, done in the past, this truck runs the BEST on OEM Filters.
Sorry, I just really felt inclined to outline those things because other people have been saying them and I haven't seen a fullblown response on your part to people who have been around these engines for a long time and know the majority of the failure points. Please report back brother and let us know how the rig is doing and what course of action you are going to take.
Matt
