Hey fellas, I have a 2000 f250 7.3td PS with auto trans. I've had it for 6-7 months and am having a few issues. I bought the truck with 221k and now have somewhere around 224k on it. My first problem is the transmission and shifting. When I take off from a stop, first gear is a little rough, second is relatively solid, but as soon as it hits third and my RPM's drop, it seems like there is no power. I drive on the interstate to work and back everyday and it's a huge problem getting up to speed. I've asked the guys at the diesel performance shop in town and they just tell me to buy a Banks Trans-Command and it will fix the problem. Not sure how to go about this on my own anymore. I'm starting to think my torque converter or something is shot. Anything helps at this point. Just need to get my problem fixed for better MPG's and smoother gears and solid shifts. Thanks!

I don't know what that means. Can you explain it?

That's an engine problem, not a transmission problem.

Then they are incompetent. All that the Transcommand can do is make the shifts firmer. That can't help a low power problem in third gear.

Find out why the engine is low on power. It's often a fuel filter that needs to be replaced. It certainly isn't the torque converter.
Hey thanks for the replies. I was looking at my motor today just to check up on a few things and I noticed that there was a boot under the turbo with 2 hose clamps and neither were tightened down at all. Got it all tightened up and runs like a champ. Still shifting a little bit rough occasionally. But it was definitely a motor power issue. And my turbo is spooling the way it should, finally. It sounds great now. Investing in all new boots and clamps next paycheck
