What sort of dizzy setup do you have on this engine?
Also if the bolt pattern is the same you may be better off swapping on all the EFI setup from the old Inline six and leaving it at that. Its not easy to do a carb swap on something that was already EFI. Not only wiring but you need to do a low pressure fuel setup for the carb as well as figuring out dash wiring if you want to use your stock gauges still. Its not impossible but it requires some work to do it right.

No experience here, just stabbing in the dark. Gauge senders should work fine still, so keep the wiring for those intact. If the gauges don't read properly use the senders from the original motor. It will be easiest to install an old duraspark distributor. Search for Duraspark II conversion, and you'll find plenty of wiring diagrams, and how to's. You'll likely get a check engine light because emission stuff is gone, and the computer is disconnected, so remove the bulb. If the carb has an electric choke you'll want to wire that as well. I'm pretty sure that is just an ignition hot wire.

For those without a score card, more threads by the OP on the same topic:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...1987-f150.html
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...to-points.html
Despite multiple folks stating it's MUCH easier to swap the EFI parts onto the donor engine the OP is hell bent to run a carburetor and has opened the question to running a points ignition.
I think mrollings53 has identified the easiest path for an ignition system. I previously pointed out the OP's truck already has low pressure in tank pumps and they will need to figure out how to safely trigger them on.

Just need to put an old Duraspark box on it. Power it with a keyed 12v source.
The water temp and oil pressure should work fine, might need to change the sending units over to the ones from the truck. Not sure how interchangeable they are(if they will read right from the older motor).
Does the '84 motor have a mechanical fuel pump? It should, right? Just hook the original fuel line to it. You will need to convert the plastic fuel line to rubber or steel. They make fittings to do this. Then unwire the pumps in the tank.
