Once you have the speedo cable unhooked(a job in it's own...... stupid clip) you will get little more slack in the wire harness. Just watch out when you unplug the harness so the contacts will not break off.
Any 87 to 91 F-series and Bronco cluster will work.

I thought so! And yes i know about the old speedometer cable and getting enough slack to unhook it it was easier to me to get enough slack out of it! The pain to me was when i had to put the cluster back in! But i had to remove the cluster to lube the speedometer cable it was chirping! It drove me insane when I drove it!! Lol I just hope i can find one! I only have 4 u yank it yards by me and 3 of them are pick n pull but they are not that far apart. Thanks again you guys for the help!!!! Greatly appreciated!!!!
Hello again all u wasn't able to find a gauge cluster with a tachometer for my 88 oh well i guess I'll just have to deal with what i got for now. Thanks for all input and ideas!!!!!! Will let u know if i ever find one! Thanks again

Vacuum leak will throw a lean code. If you are getting fresh air somewhere you are not supposed to and it isn't measured by the computer.......... guess what, you are lean.

I just found this thread and I'm hoping someone here may be able to help with my tach issue. I have a 96 F150 with a 300 efi. I want to install a tach and while I'm aware that factory units are plug and play I'd rather use the aftermarket one I already have. My question is where can I tie it into the ignition ? I know the old trucks went to the negative side of the coil like the tach instructions tell me but I'm not sure on an efi with obdII and I don't want to accidently fry something.
