my current gauge cluster (88 ranger) has the speedo on one side and on the other is the alt, oil, temp, and fuel. while at the jy i saw a b2 with a real guage cluster to include a tach but it was a v-6 b2... will the clusters interchange?? can i setup the tach for a 4 cyl??
If you read my post, I have a cluster that is the same year, size and design. But good old Ford decided to use a different plug on the left side. I still don't know if there is a cluster with the same plug design as ours. I am sure you will be in the same boat. Please update this if you find some thing. I think I am going to try comparing the wires and get the plug cut from the wrecked donor truck. Who knows if it will work.
To run the tach, you very likely will need to run extra wires (maybe just one) in from the ignition - and the harness plug/plugs will need to be changed. BTW, pulling wires out and putting them into different plug cavities is easy. And oh, you'll loose two gauges going to the tach - Ford used warning lights instead.
the cluster i saw was from a v-6 b2 it had all the guages. fuel oil temp alt speed and tach. it wasn't cheesy either. the guages had actual numbers for the pressure and alt vs the "norm" range. i'm just curious if i should get it or buy all new guages and make a new dash out of aluminum.
