Steering arm removal?

Working on power steering upgrade and removing old components. 51 f1 mostly stock with safety updates. I have the drivers side steering arm loose, but cant seem to remove it. Is there a cam or pin im not seeing? Couldnt find any reference in shop manual. Removed cotter n nut. Used air hammer gently. Pushed forward 1/2" n then stopped. Swivels vertically. Appreciate any clues.

Why are you removing the arm? Is the ball bad?

Putting rack and pinion (ford brand) power steering on my 51 F1. I am allergic to Japanese food ;-) It comes with new steering arms that bolt to the stock bottom holes in spindle. But the existing one has to come off.

As requested. Nut off and it moved forward 3/8" of an inch and now like hitting concrete. Was afraid there might be a cam inside.

I took mine off my early 50a few years back, and don't remember any issues. This may be really stupid but could it possibly be the zirk fitting?

Is this new rack and pinion the type that bolts to the axle directly?

Could the zerk be hitting the threads?

Zerk is my guess too. Probably an extra long thread shank on that particular one. As in, "hey, it fit in the hole, didn't it?".
