Mines done it twice. The first time the trans wouldn't shift until higher rpm, my mpg was very bad, and i had turbo fart (most say it's normal but mine only does it with a bad ebp so far) also my vgt readings would stay at 85%. That time i unplugged it and all went back to normal until i could change it. This time all tge same symptoms but unplugging the ebp didn't work so i pulled tge turbo and cleaned it. Still didn't work. Had the ebp changed when the hg and studs were done and that fixed it.
I can get 28lbs all day long... and I can get a fart whenever I lay her down and then get off of it quick. That shows that the vanes are moving as commanded, quickly moving in the correct direction. Without that , the vanes actually responding is a guess. I intentionally try for farts at least once a week... to test the theory and keep them moving freely.
Its not an ease into it and then out.. just as the boost really sets you back in the seat, let off fast.
My normal "fart" isn't tge grinding one but more of a silence. If i get on it and let off it's like the engine goes silent for a split second then back to normal. I aactually thought that was turbo fart until i think it was Rusty posted a video of turbo fart which was what i was getting with the turbo issues. Either way she is good to go now and hopefully for a good long while.
Went through all the used parts today and found i got a couple of bonus items. Updated oil cooler screen, new ipr screen, and the whole upper engine resealed.
Been driving this bad boy for a week and it is doing great.
Few things I've noticed. Still haven't gotten the low flow code to come up again, i don't get the vane sweep at startup (i need to ask the shop if they reflashed or something, it runs incredibly smooth now (mobil 1 540 about 1k ago) but wasn't as smooth before the hg job, and even at 75 mph i don't get over 5.9 on temp split (combinatiom before of mishi tstat was bad i think and the hg leak i could get it to 8) of the highway my split stays around 2 and they didn't touvh my cooler so far I'm very happy!!!
Did you change the t-stat? Did you use EC1 rated coolant this time? Exhaust gas injected into the coolant should make the coolant temps higher... could also be effects of the oil flowing better thru the cooler also, synthetic oil is a better cleaner and handles heat better than Dino oil.

Silent farts... that still kills me!
I've had 4 tstats in it. On my original mishimoto I'm pretty sure i broke it last time i put it in (pin stuck in the housing. The new mishimoto is doing proper now. Did not go with elc. I'm sticking with the gold. But yes in hindsight i could pretty much pinpoint by my temps when my hg got really bad No overheating but very erratic getting up to temp and a few degrees higher then it is now. One day during this week i drove 80mph for 30 miles and ect stayed at 204 and eot was back and forth from 208 and 209 (was testing her)
I liked it. Will tow the boat tomorrow and give her another work out.
