Shimmy and shake

Have the tire tech pay close attention to rim run-out as well. X and Y axis run-out. I've been chasing a vib for a while now. Factory tires were fine. At 40K Replaced with high end tires. Shop couldn't get them to balance. After a week they took them back put another brand on all was OK until about a month ago with 20K on the tires. I rotated tires now the vib is back. Re-balanced the tires...they were out quite a bit. Tire tech noticed two of the factory rims had a hop. Re-balanced again...now its worse. Taking it back in tomorrow to see what the hell can be done. May try the balance beads? The tires likely "took" to the hop wearing out in an egg shape. Im likely gonna be forced to step up to 18s or 20s now cuz Im not buying new 2 new rims $ tires. Looking for a set of new take offs as we type. GAH!! just what I need is to drop another 2K. Why are these dam trucks so sensitive to balance? I never have this problem with cars only trucks from light to heavy duty. Tractors as in Semi's arent this sensitive either.

I had a very similar problem and it turned out to be my Ranch Hand Brush Guard was causing the vibration. I took it off and it was like a brand new smooth riding truck. This is after the dealer re-balanced the tires and changed the drive shaft I saw another F-350 driving down the road with a brush guard and I could see the vibration.

Well, that is very interesting!! Wish I had a brush guard on my truck that I could remove!!

Picked up my truck from the dealer today. They had it for 3 full days. End result? They balanced my tires. This is the 5th time for balancing. 3 times on the old tires, 2 times on the new tires. They did not take it for any test drive. Currently it feels a little better but this is what has happened every other time. I am really contemplating my 30+ year affair with Ford.

I've having an identical issue as well with my '08 f250 6.4... driving me nuts, and I've been chasing it for a while. I just made a new thread on it before I saw this thread. On my truck it feels like there is a lump in one of my tires but there isn't. Also, I had the issue on factory wheels, as well as my aftermarket that I have on now. tire wear seems to be normal on all tires. I THINK it's coming from the back, but only because when I have my coffee or cold one in the cup holder, it about comes out of the top of the cup because it's so bad.

Update. Its a bunch better, shall I say acceptably/tolerable. Its a 3/4 ton truck I dont expect a Cadillac ride. This is a private well known HD truck shop, where I purchased the tires. This has cost me nothing but a little time so far, but they were able to get it this time. Im still gona look for some factory take offs in the 18-20" range. FYI this has nothing to do with brand of vehicle. I've always had issues with truck balance vs auto. FYI,2 you cant use the balance beads in a rim/tire assembly which has TPS in the valve stems.

I've tossed wrenches professionally on big rigs in the past never had issues with them or passenger cars. Its always these trucks. Not brand specific either. However I do see the hop in the OEM 17" rim as well as the tire. But this last balance took care of 98% of it....until the next tire rotation...GAH! Any luck Ill see another 20K then Im replacing with the whole smash with 18" or 20" take offs.
