Can you use some punctuation? Parsing your run-on sentences is a pain in the azz. You can text your friends using that but show us some courtesy, please.
When you find out what a 2.8 is, then ya might wanna venture into the engine sections of FTE.
And in terms of assembling an engine, you'll have better luck searching on Google or buying a book/manual.
Is that an Aussie 64 Comet? Here in the states, they came with 170 and 200 cubic inch Sixes, and the 260 and 289 V-8's. They are slightly larger than the Falcon, but use the same doors.

The Fordsix.com website would be your best bet on info on a 2.8 motor, it was never used in trucks. And there is a forum for that motor.
A 64 Comet? I'd like to see pics of it before you visit the engine section. Buying a shop manual set for the engine and the rest of the car is a darn good idea. It's amazing what one can find on the net and Ebay. I commend you on your venture but the more info you can read and gather up on the subject will give you a better chance of total success. And bring that big ol' puffy chested smile to you face.
I feel the same way every time I have to pick up a metric wrench.
Randle you bring up a point that has bothered me since school as a little lad. I'm 58 now and which ever grade I was in I was taught we were eventually going to the Metric (Europi-on) system so you need to learn it. Back then and still now I wonder WHY?

It's cheaper to use them then it is to convert the Chinese and Japanese manufactures (were they buy all their parts) over to SAE.
Inches and feet are every bit as European as the metric system.
OP may have the cart before the horse here. I hope that rebuild kit has .040 over pistons.... and that it is for the early 170 in-line, not the later 2.hate V6.
