Starter grinding/slipping
Hi all, I have a 67 f100 that is currently sitting on 1979 f150 running gear. 2wd 351w c6. My problem is the starter won't turn the engine at all, it alternates between a loud grinding noise or just spinning. I have it hooked up exactly like it was before I pulled and rebuilt the engine, the engine was starting just fine before I transplanted the engine along with all of its wiring. So anyone have any ideas? I believe the flexplate/starter are matched, and i've been using a screwdriver to jump the solenoid because the key wont work.

Hmm. Maybe the bendix drive isn't throwing itself out properly? Just pop the starter out and try turning it over with it out of the engine. The little gear (bendix drive) should. Throw itself out when Power is applied and retract when it's taken away.
