My name is Tyler I live in Oregon and cane across a pretty sweet Deal for an 84 f250 6.9 idi. I bought it and it was great for 3 weeks the 4th week it started having a knock. And was smoking blue alot more. I took it up 4 wheeling and it did good was Smoking like crazy tho. I'm pretty sure it was burning up a bunch of oil. The next morning I go to start my truck and it sounds pretty weird and I open the hood and see the rod shot through the valve cover.and was poking in and out the engine was still running. I towed it home and took off the valve cover and saw that the bracket that holds on the rocker arm was snapped and the push rod slipt past and was not even under the rocker arm. I am no mechanic and have had a hard time finding information about it on the internet and I really do not have the money to go get it looked at and fixed so if I can get some insight I will just fix it myself depending how bad the problem is. Thank you

start a new thread Tyler so people don't get confused on what we are talking about,
welcome to FTE.
what do you mean by "the bracket that holds on the rocker arm was snapped"?
maybe a picture of what you are talking about to give us a better idea to help you get running again.
If it's a 6.9, think early-style rockers, the ones where the top portion is connected together.
What the OP needs to do is find a set of 7.3 or late 6.9 rockers; the later style which connect below the rocker itself. Install those and pushrods for any damaged ones, and you'll be good to go.
Find a junkyard and buy a set of 88-94 7.3 rockers (or 87 6.9) and bolt on. Check the push rod that was loose and make sure its straight. Fair chance everything is okay as long as you didnt drive it a whole lot that way.
