static drop questions...

I'm wanting to do a static drop (permanent/non adjustable) I see we have the dream beams lfor the front but that's only 3 inches, I would like closer to 5.5 or 6 with out cutting springs or using lowering springs at all because of the camber issues.. so am I out of luck or is there something I'm not seeing on google

Be careful just how far you drop it. When you go down so far, watch closely for clearance in the front with wheels turned. When I did mine, I thought it was good, but the springs settled just a little and the tires rubbed on the fenders bad. Seeing these fenders are double-thick (between inner and outer sheet metal), and the way they are constructed, you can not just roll the fenders for clearance like you can on cars.

You can find pics on the second page here for my truck:

What about channeling the body? That would require no suspension mods.

The front wheels are 15x5.5 or 15x6.5...can't remember off hand. The original plans were to run wider on the front, but somehow ended up going this way. Not quite sure how that happened, but it worked out.

Mine are 15/8 0 offset so they sit flush with the outside of the fender, i want the fender to sit about 2-3 inches above the rim so im gonna have to run a low-ish profile tire to do it

Are there drop spindles for our trucks or some thst can be adapted? I feel like a 2" spindle and the 3" dream beams would sit just about where i want it.. and after sping settling it'd probably be perfect

That would be fine if you never drove the truck.
Now turn the wheel when going in or out of a driveway and the wheel goes up into where.......... in to the fender and its not pretty.

To do this right you need to pull the spring(s), support the truck level, make up a rig of the wheel/tire profile you plan to use (summit sells this tool)
Percy's WheelRite Wheel and Tire Fitment Tools 01201 - Free Shipping on Orders Over $99 at Summit Racing
bolted to the wheel mounting flange, spin this rig wile moving the suspension thru it's travel and turning the wheel left & right to make sure it will clear EVERYTHING.

I made somthing similar to that but non-adjustable comes in handy. We'll see what happens i still have to get the front clip back on and figure out how to get 5" of drop with out excessive camber. You're right about the travel, i forgot how soft the sping was, and the truck needs to appear impractical while still being somewhat practical.... i demand too much some times.. LOL.
The rear will definitely be getting a 5" drop and helper bags so when i actually use it as a truck i dont have problems. Although maybe i could run those air shock in the front to help stiffen it up maybe? ? Just so it can stay low all the time and not bottom out on things like the driveway and what not??

It's ok we all do it some more than others

I have also seen some posts on the CV front suspension swap but never checked the years they were doing it on as I am not going to do that swap but like to see what others are doing.

I have also seen posts of using the full CV frame under the Ford PU but again did not look into the years being done. I got to say it had a nice stance and would guess rides like a car. Don't think you could put anything in the bed with weight as I don't think the car suspension could handle it.

I'd definitely love to see the pick up on the cv frame, but it definitely wouldn't usable as a truck

I did a Google search for crown vic frame swap and 1 I came up with is this one for a 60 F100 https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...rame-swap.html

The other I have seen posted last your when surfing was using the CV floor & firewall in place of the trucks like this of a 69 F250 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9LjOrOl2Aw#t=10

It is not for the faint at hart. I am doing a body off frame 81 F100 to clean & rebuild but I have also built a 68 Cougar on a 69 Bronco frame using all Ford parts. And no it was not a hick job of just bolting the body to frame as I channeled the body to get it lower on the frame to look right.
