There are a couple of threads on here were someone was seriously considering the crown vic swap. Going from memory I think the track width was close, a little frame trimming was needed after getting rid of the stock front crossmember. But I don't think there are any threads where someone actually did it. I think on another board a guy started to do it with a Bronco but don't know if he finished it.
Whatever you end up with I think it should have airbags to be practical. Raise it up to drive it and be practical, park it and lower it to be impractical looking.
I don't see any reason to bag it unless you want it to sit the frame on the ground.
As long as the rockers don't sit much lower than the frame no reason you would have any issues driving it on normal everyday roads.
Remember the CV drives on the same roads, it has no issues and plenty of suspension travel.
Think using the firewall & floor of the CV is the way to go. To use it on our year trucks just like doing any project a little measuring of both to see if close and then go for it!
Any one know what the wheel base is on a CV?

Now you got me thinking all crazy like!
If my parts truck was not a roll over, no cab, I would think of looking in to this after my Flare Side was done. Then again could cut the roof off, think convertible and go with that.
Dave stop thinking and move on!

114.7 is the cv wheel base our short bed is 116 or 117 inches
If i were using the cv frame Flatten out rear section of the frame (above the rear axle) and swap in a irs t bird or new edge set up just so you don't have to have frame work 10 inches up in the bed of the what was once a usable truck bed
The more i think about it the more i want the cv frame.... i mean for real you could have and insanely low truck without cutting into the cab and raising the floor and still have 100% factory geometry suspension the only thing is that my truck happens to be lwb :/
You guys are missing the point of the crown vic swap. If you are going to swap the whole frame, then hunt around for a suitable car of any kind that would have the correct wheelbase and engine that you would want.
The whole point of the crown vic swap is the front crossmember. It unbolts. The mustang II front crossmember swaps started a whole huge business in crossmember swapping to get independent suspension, rack and pinion steering and custom ride heights. The crown vic is just the latest junkyard version of this. You can go to fatman fabrications or several others and get a mustang II style crossmember that fits these trucks if you want to pay for it.
Im not, crown vic frame with irs would be quite perfect for my application if i didn't plan on doing truck stuff like towing and hauling... although I'll be mostly hauling *** hahahaha see i have a long bed but i only would buy a short bed. But I'm partial to this truck in particular because it was my grandparents from new
On the other, more practical hand.. keeping my long bed and 9" and doing a c notch and axle flip is way more practical and cheaper so the vic front sub frame is gonna be the way i go regardless of just about anything else we bring up on here
The way I look at the Mustang II swap is it is a light duty front end.
Even if you have a I6 it is more weight than the 4 the mustang II came with.
So now to support that weight you have to upgrade the springs but the A arms, ball joints, rack are still LD!
Then you still have to deal with the rear setup. With the CV it is a complete balanced package, all be it for a car, but it works together so it is more likely to work better as a whole under the truck body.
The hump in the bed is a pain and if you were to "flatten" it out (4 link maybe) you could add the 1.5" to the wheel base too.
That is my take on front sub-frame swap over a full frame swap but that's me.

I have heard this C notch and seen it done on TV just did not pay much to it at the time, but does this also go up into the bed of the truck?
I think the top of the frame is already at the bed floor and why I ask.
