Hey guys is there anyone here that would be willing to put a fuel pressure gage on ther EFI engine and let it set 6-8 hrs (overnight) and tell me how much the fuel pressure dropped? I put a gage on mine and checked everything acording to the haynes man., and everything is within spec. but when it sits for a good while, (like overnight) when go to start it, it has to wind up, so to speak, it dosent fire right up like a EFI should . Can anyone help with this? Thnx. DW
Have you tried turning the key to the run position, let it sit for a few seconds, then crank it over? Loss of pressure can be caused by a defective fuel pump, regulator, or a leaking injector.
yep as a matter of fact when i go out in the mornings, i usually turn the key on and off and let the fuel pum cycle about three times to build the pressure baack up and it still has to spin probly a 8-12 times before it fires off. it shouldnt be that hard to start, otherwise it runs great! DW
Have you had the pressure guage on it when you cycle the key? It should build at least 30psi with 1 key cycle, if you do have the guage on one morning just keep activating the fuel pump until pressure builds to 40 psi and then see how it starts. Domenico...
If your referring to the timming on my Bronco , I wish it was, but i've checked checked and set the timing , new wires, new plugs, new fuel fltr, new K&N, and other wise its stock. DW
yeahi know the vehicles are differnt, but what do you mean on mine i've gotten confussed on all these threads somewhere? you think my comp. is cause ing my starting problem?
As far as i know this is a stock motor other than flow master exhaust and K&N air fltr. the other motor i was refering to is a motor im build to go it this fall, sorry for the confusion, this whole fuel pressure and starting problem or for the the stock 5.0 EFI Thnx DW
The gauge and computer have seperate senders in the intake. the gauge has nothing to do with how the engine runs. the gauge is a way Fords gives us that false warm fuzzy feeling that WE ARE IN CHARGE, when we aren't.
Time to check the temp sensor
Okay didn't know there was another, do you happen to know where they hid it on a 87 bronco?
I'm about ready to just lift the radiator cap and drive a new truck under it! DW
