My thoughts exactly, there may not be anything wrong with the oil cooler.

First of all, thank you all for the help!

The screen part just arrived, however, I don't think I"m going to get to work on it till Saturday. It's raining out and I'm still under the weather, don't know if I feel like getting under the hood Plus, we are getting our house ready to put on the market in 2 weeks so today is house day. I work tomorrow, considering calling out sick again, but hoping to get it done on Saturday.

The good news is that I got it put back together.... Started right up, ran nice and strong.

The frustrating news, my torque program is not working correctly. I was getting good HPOP psi/IPR % at idle was 650psi/24%. Coolant was reading aprox 179-180 as the engine temp. Then, the freaking torque program just started acting up. It would all of the sudden only read RPM and coolant temp. Then I got it to work with all sensors but Temp? WTF!???! If it's not one thing, it's another As of now, I can only get toque to read rpm and that's it. I added FICM Sync, but for some reason that sensor has never read since I installed it at the begining of this process.

I have rebooted my phone, turned off and on the blue tooth, connected/disconnected the ELM327, added a new vehicle profile and torque still is not reading any sensors. When I go into adding a new sensor, the HPOP/FICM and such are no longer showing green??? WTF?

Arrrhhhhh, I'm not sure what my HPOP should be reading at idle, but I know it as LEAST 500 psi. I'm getting 650 at idle with 24% IPR the last time my Torque was reading the sensors. I did see psi increase up to 3000ish under acceleration. Truck seems to run fine.

NOW WHAT? First, get torque to run correct. & yes, the blue tooth is seeing the adapter.
Next, monitor my Engine Coolant and Oil temp to make sure they are within 15 deg of each other, right?

Anything else I need to look for?

Thanks for the help everyone!

OK, I got torque to work again. for some reason, I had to go ingo the settings of my profile and click a box ...bottom one, forgot what one...too tired Anyway,

HPOP is at 650 at idle @ 24% IPR. Is this normal?
Coolant is within 2 degrees of oil and water temps..

I'm going to bed and to work tomorrow.

LMK what ya think

Sounds like you dodged a bullet! Those numbers are now fine. Keep an eye on things for the next several hundred miles at least to verify that you shouldn't be pulling that IPR screen out again for another cleaning.

So, Now that my IPR is fixed, I wonder what was the problem???

Oil cooler? I remember the video and diesel tech Ron said if my cooler gasket was blue, it is most likely a ford cooler, not a Doorman cooler. My gasket was blue, I remember that and the cooler on the kit I ordered has a pic of a cooler with a blue gasket. I found a green looking sediment on my IPR screen and it looked like a tiny piece of green O ring like material. I'm just wondering why my cooler would go bad after 25K mi/3 years? I changed the cooler over 3 years ago and I've put 26K miles on her with no problems. I was having some sticiton issues in the winter time. That was a simple fix from using T5 to T6 oil which completely resolved the stiction. The stiction only happed while I was at work in very cold temp's and my truck was cold, now, stiction is gone. I recently did an oil change with the ford Hot Shot oil and also fuel treatment ...just in case. I was kind of wondering if the Hot Shot oil treatment stirred something up in the oil system?

I"m also concerned about the longevity of my heads as this recent sediment I found on my IPR screen. One problem often leads to another and I just wanna be sure of what to expect and what to look for to remedy any future problems. The only tune I have is the FICM repair Atlas tune.
Are my heads safe??? I'm very concerned about this for future trips as I rarely drive my truck other than once month just to keep things moving and our scheduled trips when I pull our 5th wheel. I would rather address possible future problems that be suck out in no where with my 5th wheel needing major repairs

Thanks again for the info & help!

Took the truck to a drive to the store. 20-25 minute round trip dirve. Temps got up to 183 coolant temp, 189 engine temp @ 55mph. IPR was between 15-85, more like 24-58% and HPOP was between 6520-3000. She seems to be running fine so far.

I would bet on top of your original bad cooler that you had bad gaskets. The tell is the green on the ipr. If your nee gaskets were green your screwed,
If it was just residual from your old gaskets you may be in the clear. Other than using oem gaskets and goodies your main priority on this beast now is proper maintenance which includes proper interval coolant flushes (more often with the gold coolant and less often with ELC) chances are your good to go now

I"m almost positive that the gasket for the oil cooler was blue. As for the old or original cooler, I cleaned it up very well and I even used a wet shop vac to pull any debris out of the cooler area before I put the new oil cooler in. As for coolant, I only use Caterpillar EC1 which has no silicates in it in addition to an oil coolant filtration system.

Yet Another No Start Problem

3 years ago but not many miles really. Just think about it though. The only place ypu could get green stuff in the oil path like that is from a deteriorating gasket. Since you replaced with blue (oem hopefully) It would have to be residual. Could have been stuck in the system and finally let go. Plenty of places to hide in these engines

Well, my truck is up and running, however, when I first drove it on a 30 mile trip, I had a strange surge between 1400-1700. At first, the truck was shaking bad @ 1400 when I held the speed at that rpm. Once I got out of the neighbor hood and on the highway, it seemed to go away. I did feel it between 1400 and 1800ish. When I felt the surge, I either let off on the throttle or floored it and the surge went away. On my way home, I took a good look at my IPR PSI which was good, 650 idle and 3300ish WOT. Coolant temp and oil temp are almost exactly 10 deg apart. coolant was 193, oil 183, IPR % between 24-80 dependent upon throttle position.

It seems the more I drive it the less I notice the surge. It's still there, just not as much. Less frequent and less intense if that makes sense. No codes either???

Any ideas on this on guys???

Thanks again everyone!
