Typewriter tic

I have a customer with a 2011 that has a ticking noise that developed into a engine miss with no fault codes. His mileage has dropped from 18 mpg to 14.5 . Heard the noise more pronounced in the left bank. Tonight I disassemble the engine and found the rocker arms by the pivot ball are showing signs of recent wear looks as if they had a die grinder taken to them. The rockers spear loose, I was wondering if anyone had this problem yet ? The truck has over 100k on it

You can see the wear by the pivot ball.

That's the first I've seen that happen. You may want to make sure the oil squirter tube is not plugged at that rocker arm location to ensure it's getting oil.

Ya all clear that's not the set all of them are doing this. He is using T6 oil and changes about every 5k. Do you know if the ball is free to move around or is it supposed to be retained by the rocker arm?

could this be factory marks sure looks fresh. I cut filter to see if material is in it.

Sure doesn't look normal as you say... Possible recent over-rev? Was there any metal in the filter?

Typewriter tick I have heard being common and according to Ford wasn't a problem, now I wonder.

While I have only seen in person a few blocks torn down, that doesn't look normal to me either.

I checked the filter had some small particles in it. Seems the rocker is two soft and on this particular engine the cross shafts that the rockers pivot on aren't sitting flat on the head. Check out the pics

I don't know if the pic shows the witness marks or not.
