Thought I was going to finish up the bed panel today. That was before my HF da sander died. So and hour drive to Macon and hour drive back to swap it out. Just going to rattle can it for now.
If I can find a set of those mirrors in the JY I do that mod prior to final paint. Also looking for a visor.
My JY list so far:mirrors and hydro boost brakes
Man, I missed you. You were in my neck of the woods.
Chief, that is great to hear, better than you expected. Now, what to do with all that spare time you will have. Congratulations, and if I have not said it before, Thank you for your service.
No need to thank me Bob.
The best part is I will be home nightly and I will be able to help the wife with the little man. I will also be able to take care of things around the house during the week and not have to work like a mad man on the weekends. Dinners at home and sleep in my bed!!!!
I will also save a ton of money, no more rent for the camping spot and a lot less fuel not having to drive back and forth.
All the t's have been crossed and the i's dotted and I start working out of the National Guard Armory in Cedartown GA on the 29th of February!!! Thats less than a 30 minute drive from my house!!!
Everybody is excited that I will be home everynight. We have not had a normal home life for about the past 4 1/2 years as I was either working out of town or deployed somewhere. I have mandatory retirement class all next week so I plan on driving the motorhome back to the house next weekend!!!
I will still have to come to Ft Benning on occasions because all my appointments and stuff will be here, but I will not have to be here manning a desk everyday.
Very Happy for you Chief and Kudos to your wife! I know mine couldn't handle being away from for weeks at a time consistently. Hooray for more family time and time wrenching.
Update on my project. I found a builder in ATL that will build me a tranny to my spec for 600 bucks and talked with Bauman Controllers so It looks like my 4 speed swap with happen by this spring.
Hugh, how hard was the 3G alternator swap? when I drop the crate from blueprint in. Blue Print engines are great guys if you need one I highly recommend them.I am basically paying 10 bucks per HP. They have answered all my questions and I can get a better deal directly through them instead of Summit.

Congrats Chief!
Wife and I just got back from Orlando (business trip), last time I was there was 10+ years ago.
Why anyone would voluntarily go there as a tourist?

Trip to the junkyard to pull the 3g out of a Taurus keep the bolt that is used for the adjustment. or Windstar, find a non police Crown Vic pull the harness. I had to ream the one hole on the new alt. ,change the pulley, reclock the case for your application wire 2 or 3 wires. Fairly simple. About 40 bucks.
Got to go in early tomorrow and weld again. Easy *** money.
Shaving my Dodges body, and started with the tailgate. Warped it to ****, couldnt prevent it, tacked, cooled it and repeated the process like it always should be done. Oh well, 20 minutes into fixing the metal, its all straight now, got a nifty machine to help finish the fine tune. And then it will be back on the truck.
Had alot of down time, That yukon is ready to go, but the machine we use isnt. And all the work load is done..... Hate being commission sometimes.

Why anyone would voluntarily go there as a tourist?
I love the Orlando area and we lived in Orlando for a few years. I graduated High School about 45 Min from there. I love the vacation type attitude and the tropical weather. I am not a big fan of winter. I like the area a lot better as a tourist than living there. The wallet takes a huge hit when on vacation there.
I want to do some tropical landscaping around the pool.
I have classes all week at Ft Benning and then I will be driving the motorhome back home next Saturday !!! No wrench time today, The guy is coming to buy the Grand Am this morning and I promised to take the family to Helen to check it out today. Now tomorrow is a different story.
So I go to weld this morning. Get about half way through, and the nozzle isolator decides to strip and wont hold the tip on the gun. I hold it (with my awesome welding gloves) and that mother is hot. I push through until I have had enough, and call around to find the part. Only place that sells it or has it in stock, is online, and the physical store is closed. Damn. So that sucked.
I did go buy more bullets today, got some materials to make a mold for a custom project Im doing, and worked on the old ford today. Feels good waking up at 530 and doing all this before Noon.
