I do appreciate your opinion, I will say I've never driven a 6.2, only 5.4 and chevy 6.0 gas engines. Maybe I should give one a try, but no salesman will let me hook up a brand new truck to a trailer
By the way, thank you for your service.
Thank you.
I would drive one. I think you will be surprised. It may not be for you but at least you will know. I know by me most home depots have 6.2 rental trucks. Maybe you can rent one and hook up your trailer to see how it feels. I wish towing tests could be part of test drives.
but with how much towing I do for work where time is money
I completely get the"time is money" as I work for myself and depending on the stage of a house, it may be everyday of the week. The difference is I love the 6.2 because I can't afford the risk of downtime on a new diesel. My partners 2014 has left him on the road twice, luckily for him he has a good ol 460 backup. I don't want a back up truck around, so I chose maximum reliability, the 6.2. Towing 15k lbs regularly is not something I deal with though. I occasionally tow up to 12k and it is never very far. The V10 is the most comparable motor to the 6.2 imo. The 6.2 tugs a TL130 and the Case 270 around pretty darn well. I wouldn't mind a little more low end torque though.
Isn't there also a rumor about a possible third motor option? Basically to replace the V10. I know they'll probably never go this way, but I'd love to see an ecoboost with a 10 speed behind it in the SD.
Surprised they don't offer the v10, I guess to boost diesel numbers! Who knows j love the size of the superduty and the diesel but would def go with a v10 if offered in a 250 no doubt!!

I would defiantly go test drive a 6.2L Superduty. I've driven a couple of them, and by comparison to the old 5.4L, the 6.2L is light years ahead in terms of usable power. I drove a 2008 5.4L F-250 4X4 a few years ago and thought it was a complete dog. By contrast the 6.2L Superdutys I've driven would easily run circles around any 5.4L truck.
That is very good to know. Thank you, it's just what I wanted to hear. I think I have my mind made up with the 6.2. That 6.7 is so temping though
Here's a couple of video's to put it into visual perspective for you.
One of these trucks is a 6.2L and the other is a V-10...Ya I know, not a 5.4L but regardless the V-10 is more powerful than any 5.4L used in the Super Dutys. Both trucks are towing 15,000lbs up hill. As you'll be able to see in the video the 6.2L effectively spanks the V10 in this comparison. And keep in mind this is also one of the more powerful 3V V10's.
