The title of your thread leads me to believe you're confusing a wastegate with a recirculation valve (or a blow off valve). You don't need one on a diesel, at least not for these diesels.
actually, his does not. he has a first generation banks sidewinder.
there really is no need for a waste gate on your turbo. but if you want one, you will have to change the complete turbo assembly. and for what it is going to cost it is not worth it because you will not gain anything.

In that case, see below

You know what they say about assumptions... i just assumed being a 94 it was a factory turbo. This is why signatures and specifics are important.
Wastegate isnt going to do much without changing turbo housings. Way more involved than its worth, would be way better off with a different turbo. If i was in your shoes and wanted more, i would look at putting a bigger cold wheel in that turbo, as the exhaust side is decent. Both type4 and RacinNdrummin can do it. Other performance options are fabbing a better turbo to your kit, or a new kit from idiperformance.
I have had both non wastegated and wastegated Banks on my truck. The wastegated now has wrapped crossover, up pipe, and a turbo blanket. It's a little slow to spool IMO and in most driving I don't see more than 2 psi. It's not really a performance turbo though. It does spool a few hundred RPM before the non wastegated model, but maxes out around 9-10 psi (wastegate unplugged) vs 13 with the non wastegated. That's with a 100cc pump as well. It's a good turbo and I like it better so far as mechanically (serviceability of everything) and performance than the non wastegated with long up pipes in the way of everything and that huge air box. I'll eventually change to a more performance oriented turbo but keep the Banks wastegated hot side, it's a nice compact and easily serviceable setup with no leak issues of the similar ATS plumbing.
