1994 idi turbo diesel downpipe

I am looking for a downpipe and straight exhaust system for my 94 idi turbo diesel. Not having much luck online but maybe someone here could help this turbo breathe.

You'll be very pleased. I had a 94 IDIT and replaced the crap factory downpipe with the Banks and it was great!

No it should just slip right into the housing and bolt to the tranny I believe from there....you should be good to go...put that on, weld that sucker to your exhaust system and away you go.

Thanks guys. I went ahead and straight 3" piped out the rest of the way. What a difference this combo of downpipe and exhaust has made on this 94 turbo. I have actually gained 4 highway miles per gal. Definitely glad i did the change.

holy crap! iv seen them pics of the stock crushed pipes (im n/a) but id never guessed they restrict a whopping 4 mpg's worth! nice going!
talk about a mod with huge returns.that will save thousands.over $800 saved in just 1 year @ 4.10 per gallon/15k miles.minus the price for the part, and you still save close to 700$ this year alone lol.
it's like 10 grand saved if you run the truck for 10 yrs,cus you know fuel is only going up.
at these fuel prices, and potential massive savings,it's easy to see why im always concerned with FE.

Next step is a little more invasive, but dont forget the turbo exhaust outlet is still only 2.5" There is a post on here of a guy who adapted it to a 3" v-band flange. IMO the thread is a great candidate for a sticky.

To swap or not to swap?

I have a 94 Factory IDIT, and a 93 with a Banks Sidewinder and their 3-1/2"exhaust. The Banks completely out-performs the stocker, so I was going to swap them out before I sold the 93. The factory unit is new, under 10k miles, the Banks has only about 50k on it. It sounds like it would be a lot easier to put the Banks down pipe and a 4" exhaust on the factory unit, and leave the Sidewinder in the 93. How do you think the ATS with the mods would compare to the Banks performance wise? I would still need to add pyro, and boost gauges to the 94. I know it would save me a ton of time, I could also then use the snail from the ATS for my plans to intercool the 94 later.

Thanks,

Mac.

I'd say cut the small elbow and do the 3" and you will have the same power potential as the sidewinder...don't really think one is better then the other...unless someone has side by side dyno numbers for each kit on the same truck with same mods...but idk never ran the sidewinder, ats does the job for my rigs
