Looking to get a camper shell on my 77 ford short bed but I need to know how to measure. Do I measure the inside of the bed or outside?

 

Outside...

 

Measure what the camper shell will be setting on. The bed front panel to the top edge of the t/g.

Side to side, use the top of the bed lip inner edge going out +1" for the camper bottom frame. Make sense?

 

if memory serves, the tailgate is 65 and 3/4" wide and matches the "between the top of the bed rails" measurement, and the top of the bedrails were 2 and a 1/2" or 3" wide, the length of a long bed escapes me... and I havent measured a short bed before
