Long Bed Dimensions

Here I am still trying to buy a new-used truck, and I've run into a peculiar problem -- people who can't use a tape measure to save their lives! Anyway what I need to know, are all the 1994-95-96-97 (before the style change) F250/F350 beds the same dimensions, and how do they differ from my '78 F-100? (Haven't found any sample trucks locally that I can waylay and measure... and the purchase prospects are all over 300 miles away. Not handy!)

I need to everyday-haul stuff that fits fairly tight in my old bed, so this is important to me.

For reference, I'll append a Handy Diagram from my truck, complete with dents. (well, if it'll let me... I don't see any way to attach an image on this form. Do I need N-many posts first or something?)

a: 65.0" -- width inside the bedrail
b: 69.5" -- widest point inside the bed
c: 49.5" -- between wheel wells at floor level
d: 97.0" -- inside length without bedrail
e: 98.0" -- inside length including bedrail

bed depth 19"

Thanks!

As far as I know they are the same dimensions, other than the shape of the fender wells. I do believe Tonneau covers and such will fit 78-96 trucks no problem

Will be interesting to compare -- I've noticed variations in the width of the bedrail too.

Sorry bud, I forgot this weekend, and took the measurements before I re-read the post. I'll try to measure the others this afternoon.

Here's what I have on my '92 F-150 long bed

a : 65" width inside bedrail
b : 70.5" widest point in bed
c : 51.5" between wheel wells at floor level
d : 96.5" inside length without bedrail
e : 98" inside length with bedrail

I'll try to get the widest inside measurement later, I did measure narrowest though, its behind the wheel well, where the "hump" for the rear tank filler neck is. - 66"

To the bottom lip of the bedrail from the floor is 18", if you measured 19" at the top of the bedrail, that is probably the same.

They are the SAME EXACT bed structure with different sides. They use the same bed liner, tonno cover and cap

So at least the 1992 is pretty close to the '78! that's good to know. Thanks!

(Personally I think changing bed dimensions is one of the most boneheaded things a truck manufacturer can do!!)

I edited my post and added the widest measurement, it's a little above the floor, there is an indentation in the bedside.

I would bet they are the exact same, our measurements are probably just a little different from two different people doing the measuring. I didn't have anybody to hold the other end of the tape, so mine are probably a little less accurate.

Yeah, I had to use the hook it to something and swear when it falls off method of measuring myself, so being half an inch one way or the other is probably just our collective bad aim Now I'm thinkin' the folks I mentioned who measured theirs at 64" mighta forgot to include the tape-measure body.
