Hi golfgooroo,

I'm not a technician, so I don't have access to engineering information or repair procedures. I'd recommend reaching out to the service manager at your dealership; I'm sure they'd be more than happy to address your concerns.

The last GM vehicle that I owned dropped a .50 cent o-ring in the tranny. It cost $3,800 to fix this .50 cent part. When I was talking to the dealership, they said "they all do this around 50,000 miles". Nice. I got the same story a few years before this on a head gasket on another GM product. Seems that every line of vehicle has some issue or another that's common. It's unlikely that you have anything to worry about but it seems like instead of replacing the valves, spending that money on a warranty would be more cost effective because more of the truck would be covered. This problem seems to appear after 100,000 miles so I don't see doing anything.

They almost beg you to purchase an extended warranty when you close on a new truck. You have the option of being covered for the first 200,000 miles with a manufacturer warranty.

If you are really worried you can always trade it on another brand or another .

Good luck!!!
