Local Repair/Restore shops
Hi Guys,
I picked up a 78 F250 2wd last fall and I would like to know if any of you could recommend somewhere or someone that I could get some work done on my truck? I want it to be road safe so I would like to get the brakes, front end, and the rear end looked at, and potentially some motor work done (its tired). I dont have a lot of extra money (who does) or space to tear down the truck and have it sit for weeks while I figure out what I did wrong.
I live in Ham Lake so a big bonus if its close to me.
Thanks,
Brad

Welcome to FTE btw.
Sounds like you're not too far from mini apple sauce? I'd start calling or writing different shops around there and maybe start to get an idea on who is both willing and able to work on older trucks. Somebody should have recommendations, maybe retired employees etc. Your truck isn't exactly ancient, but there is definitely kind of a cutoff, and that truck is well past it.
Some places primarily do insurance work or focus only on late model stuff and wouldn't be interested. They may quote scary numbers to chase you away. Avoid those. But choose wisely. You want somebody who is busy, too, competent etc. Fast, good, cheap. <---- Pick two.

You live in Lino Lakes and your shop is in St Louis Park? Wow that commute would kill me. I had to work in Plymouth for a couple of years and that was bad enough. Since its a toy for me, I dont have a real deadline for it to get worked on nor do I need it back in any rush.
What I know about the truck, about 85K miles, body is in good shape for a MN truck. it has the 315M with the 3 speed auto tran. It does have a leak out of the rear end and a small leak up front. The carb has been rebuilt and an electronic choke added but it still very cold blooded.
My first priority is making it safe and dependable
If you still have interest in looking/working on this please let me know.
Thanks,
Brad
